Comunidades Indigenas en Liderazgo (CIELO) advocates and aids Indigenous communities in navigating access to the scarce COVID-19 vaccines in their languages. There are Zapotec and K iché speakers with deep community ties in our CIELO outreach team that battle the skeptics that exist in Indigenous communities regarding the vaccine. We have seen first-hand the devastating impact COVID-19 has had on Indigenous communities. As the phases continue to open to a broader range of people, we know that this will make it more challenging. We are grateful for our partnership with other organizations in the city of Los Angeles that have enabled us to get the most vulnerable in our community vaccinated.
