Kindred Roots / La Sangre Llama

Kindred Roots (La Sangre Llama) follows the journey of Zapotec migrants from a small town in San Bartolomé Zoogocho, Oaxaca, Mexico. With a collective dream to improve and modernize their hometown, they assembled a community in a land far from home. In their efforts to realize this goal, they established the hometown association, the Union Social Zoogochense (USZ), which connected their cultural roots through community and replicated a sense of belonging in Los Angeles.
